Established in 1974, the nine-member Newton Highlands Neighborhood Area Council is an official elected body under the city charter. Its purpose is to facilitate communication between Newton Highlands residents and the City Council and other city organizations.
It serves as a forum for dealing with local issues and for fostering community spirit through local events such as Village Day.
Over the past few years, the Area Council has been hosting discussions to inform and solicit feedback from residents on:
Newton Highlands Village Enhancement Project
Cannabis dispensaries
Village zoning plans
Housing developments
Parking for residents and businesses
Crystal Lake renovations
City Election Debates
